Rochester beats Pawtucket and Durham in spring training action.
FT. MYERS, FL. — Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer, his second straight day with a long ball, among 17 Rochester hits as the Red Wings beat the Durham Bulls 11–0 Tuesday afternoon in Ft. Myers.
Daniel Palka and Niko Goodrum each finished 3-for-5. Palka drove in and scored one run while Goodrum scored twice. Dan Gamache also homered among two hits. Ryan Strausborger, Jonathan Rodriguez, and Kevin Garcia also finished with two knocks apiece.
Twins reliever Matt Belisle started for the Red Wings (4–1–1) and fired 2.0 innings while allowing two hits with two strikeouts. Nik Turley (3.0 IP, H, 4 SO), Seth Rosin (2.0 perfect IP, SO) and Trevor Hildenberger (1.1 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 SO) worked in relief.
On Monday afternoon, Garver also hit a solo home run and five pitchers combined to surrender just six hits as the Red Wings beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 2–1, in Ft. Myers.
Matt Tracy, Jim Miller, and Ryan Eades worked 2.0 shutout innings apiece for the Red Wings while Alan Busenitz tossed 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Pawtucket didn’t score until the 9th inning, plating a run against Mason Melotakis.
Rochester travels to Sarasota to play Norfolk on Wednesday at noon.
