MOOSIC, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings offense provided plenty of fireworks as Rochester pounded the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 11-1, on America’s 243rd birthday.

Jake Cave’s four base hits led the Wings 20-hit attack. He also chipped in a three RBI and two runs scored. Everyone in the Wings lineup had at least one hit and 7 had multi-hit nights.

The top three in the Wings order – Nick Gordon, Drew Maggi, and Cave – went a combined 10-for-16 with three of the club’s four extra-base hits, 8 RBI and 7 runs scored.

The trio had back-to-back-to-back RBI hits in a six-run second inning that put the Wings up 7-0. Rochester never looked back as Sean Poppen allowed just one run over seven sparkling innings to pick up the win and move to 5-0 with the Wings and a 2.20 ERA.

With the win the Wings moved back to .500 on the year at 42-42 for the first time since being 1-1.

*NOTES — The Railriders will face off against the Red Wings again in a double-header Friday evening starting at 5:05 pm.
