Rochester beats SWB, 5-4, on a bases-loaded walk in the 11th.

The Rochester Red Wings kept pace with the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs with a 5-4, 11-inning victory on Saturday night in Moosic, PA.

The victory kept Rochester (76-59) 3.5 games behind Lehigh Valley (79-55) for the Wild Card berth in the International League.

Pinch-runner Logan Schafer, who replaced Kennys Vargas who singled, crossed the plated on a 1-out, bases-loaded walk to Wilfredo Tovar to break the 4-4 tie.

The Wings grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Byron Buxton led off with his 11th home run of the season. Reynaldo Rodriguez singled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Adam Brett Walker.

Rochester doubled its lead in the sixth when Rodriguez drew a walk to lead off, then with 2 outs, Mitch Garver belted his first homer for a 4-0 advantage.

However, the RailRiders battle back to send the game into extra innings with 2 runs each in the 7th against starting pitcher Nick Greenwood, who gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and struck out 4 hitters.

In the 8th inning, SWB evened the count at 4-4 with a pair of runs off reliever Alan Busenitz.

Jake Reed (1-1) picked up the win as Edward Mujica earned his 24th save of the season for Rochester.

RailRiders second baseman, and Irondequoit native, Cito Culver went 0-for-4 after going 0-for-4 on Friday night.

The two teams resume their 4-game series with 2 games at Frontier Field, starting on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.

In roster moves, RHP Jose Berrios and RHP Tyler Duffey were optioned to Rochester. Duffey will start Monday, Aug. 29 vs. Scranton/WB and Berrios will start Wednesday vs. Syracuse.
