ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Today’s Rochester Red Wings game scheduled for 1:05 pm at the Syracuse Chiefs has been postponed due to rain and cold.
The teams will play a doubleheader in Syracuse on Monday, June 25 at 4:05 pm. The Wings have now been postponed 5 times this season.
Rochester travels to Pawtucket for a 3-game series beginning Monday before returning home for a 4-game set with the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs on Thursday, May 3. All tickets to Thursday’s Plates Opening Night are just $5.85 both online. Friday is Star Wars Night, Saturday is Clean Sweep and Sunday is another Bark in the Park. *NOTES — Willians Astudillo had not tripled in 261 consecutive games since May 3, 2014 for Single-A Lakewood at Asheville before hitting he hit one in last night’s game. He also added a hustle double in the 9th inning that led to the ejection of Chiefs manager Randy Knorr. Astudillo is batting .294 (10-for-34) in nine games this season…Casey Crosby registered the first professional save of his career in game two Monday after throwing a scoreless 7th inning. The appearance marked his first in affiliated ball since May 17, 2014 for Toledo at Rochester. Crosby did not pitch in 2015 or 2016 and signed late last season with Lincoln of the Independent American…The Red Wings scored 13 runs last Friday night for the first time since July 28, 2016 at Pawtucket in a 13-5 win. Rochester had not scored 13 runs in a game at Frontier Field since a 15-11 victory over Norfolk on July 1, 2014. The eight-run 1st inning was the largest inning by the Wings since they scored eight in the 3rd inning on July 7, 2017 vs. Syracuse and the largest opening inning since the team scored 10 runs in the 1st on May 5, 2015 at Indianapolis. The 13-run outburst still accounts for over 20% of Rochester’s runs this season.
