Rochester wins a pair of 1-run games to extend their winning streak to 3 games.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Rochester Red Wings concluded their road trip with a sweep of the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday.

Matt Hague’s homer in the eighth inning propelled the Red Wings to a 3-2 victory in 8 innings in Game 1.

Pawtucket had runners on first and third in the bottom of the eighth, but Steve Selsky struck out to end the game by Michael Tonkin (2-2), who earned the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

Rochester took a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and second innings. ByungHo Park singled home Hague, who had walked, in the first. In the second, J.B. Shuck was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame, and eventually scored on Zack Granite’s single.

The PawSox tied the game with two runs in the fourth off Wings starter Chris Heston that forced the game to extra innings.

In Game 2, the Wings came back to pull out a 2-1 triumph and extend their winning streak to three games.

Pawtucket forged ahead with a run in the second off Rochester starter Tim Melville, however, the Wings knotted the count with a run in the third when Shuck doubled and scored on a fielder’s choice by Bengie Gonzalez, who reached on an error.

Rochester tallied what proved to be the game-winner with a run in the fifth. Tommy Field led off with a single, and scampered around the base paths after Shuck’s single was misplayed for two errors by the PawSox.

Melville (1-0) scattered three hits over 5 innings as Trevor Hildenberger came on and pitched 2 scoreless innings to earn his fifth save.

Rochester is 7-2 against Pawtucket this season.

*NOTES — In roster moves: RHP Alan Busenitz had his contract selected by the Minnesota Twins; and RHP Alex Wimmers was optioned to Rochester by Minnesota (26th man)…The Wings return to Frontier Field on Monday at 7:05 pm to start a 3-game series against the Buffalo Bisons.
