9th-inning homers by Miguel Sano and Willians Astudillo propel Rochester’s comeback 3-2 victory.
ALLENTOWN, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings used the long ball three times in snapping a 2-game losing streak to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Rochester starter Zack Littel was tagged for solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Willians Astudillo got the Wings on the scoreboard in the eighth with a solo homer.
In the ninth, Miguel Sano, who is on a rehab assignment from the Minnesota Twins, smacked his second home run which tied the game 2-2. Astudillo came up to the plate with 2 outs and belted his second round-tripper of the contest to put Rochester in front, 3-2.
Relief pitcher John Curtiss hurled two scoreless innings, scattering 2 hits and striking out 1 to earn his second win of the season.
Rochester (22-18) pulled to within 1.5 games of North Division leading Lehigh Valley (25-18) with the victory.
The 4-game series concludes Thursday night in Allentown.
