Zack Granite and Matt Hague lead the way for Rochester.
NORFOLK, VA. — The Rochester Red Wings ended their 3-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the Norfolk Tides on Friday night.
The Wings were by Zack Granite and Matt Hague. Granite tripled and doubled, scoring three runs as Hague collected 2 RBI on a double and single.
Rochester opened the scoring with a run in the first, but the Tides responded with a pair in the home half for their only lead of the contest.
The Red Wings grabbed the lead for good with 4 runs in the third inning. Rochester paraded 10 men to the plate as Hague and Niko Goodrum hit 2-run singles en route to the 3-run lead.
The Wings tacked on an insurance run in the fourth when Kennys Vargas lofted a sacrifice fly to score Granite.
Rochester left-hander David Hurlbut (3-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing 2 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings.
In roster moves for Rochester on Friday: RHP Alex Wimmers had his contract selected by Minnesota; RHP Jake Reed was reinstated from the disabled list and transferred to Double-A Chattanooga; RHP Ryan Pressly was optioned to Rochester (dated June 1); INF Engelb Vielma was reinstated from the Temporary Inactive List; and LHP Nik Turley was transferred to Double-A Chattanooga.
