BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings won their fifth straight game with a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Field. The triumph was Rochester’s 12th in the Wings (41-34) last 13 games.
ByungHo Park hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the Red Wings victory.
Mitch Garver scored on the play after he reached base with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then went to third on a single by J.B. Shuck.
Relief pitcher Michael Tonkin struck Gregorio Petit out with runners on first and second to end the game for his third save of the season for Rochester.
Zack Granite hit an RBI single, scoring Park in the second inning to give the Wings a 1-0 lead. The Bisons came back to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning when Roemon Fields scored on a ground out.
The visitors from the Flower City tied the game 2-2 in the fourth when Granite hit an RBI single, driving in Leonardo Reginatto.
Nik Turley started the game in his first action since being optioned back by the Minnesota Twins. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 runs while scattering 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 6 hitter.
D.J. Baxendale (1-2) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief.
Rochester improved to 9-3 against Buffalo this season.
