Dillon Gee hurls Rochester to a 4-1 win over the IronPigs.
ALLENTOWN, PA. — Dillon Gee pitched seven scoreless innings, leading the Rochester Red Wings over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-1, Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park.
Gee (2-0) allowed four hits while striking out four and walking one to get the win.
The Red Wings grabbed the lead in the first when J.B. Shuck drew a leadoff walk and eventually came home on a ByungHo Park single.
Rochester (51-40) added to its lead in the fifth when Matt Hague singled home Shuck, who reached on an error.
In the sixth, Niko Goodrum ripped a leadoff double and later crossed the plate when Engelb Vielma laced a 1-out single.
The Wings final run came in the seventh when Hague was safe on a 1-out error. He moved to second pn Park’s basehit, and scampered home when Goodrum singled to left.
The IronPigs cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Jorge Alfaro hit an RBI single, driving in Herlis Rodriguez.
Drew Rucinski pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season for the Wings.
The series concludes with a matinee on Sunday, starting at 1:35 pm. The Red Wings return to Frontier Field on Monday night against the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox).
