Rochester loses 7-0 to Lehigh Valley in its regular season final game.

ALLENTOWN, PA — David Buchanan tossed seven shutout innings and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (85-58) scored 7 runs on 15 hits en route to a 7-0 win over the Rochester Red Wings (81-63) in the regular season finale on Monday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.

Buchanan (10-9) gave up two hits while fanning eight over his 7.0 IP. LHP Joely Rodriguez (1.0 IP, H) and RHP Luis Garcia (1.0 IP, H) closed things out for the Pigs. Garcia extended his scoreless streak to 17.1 IP.

With the win, Buchanan ties Drew Carpenter for most wins (24) by a pitcher in franchise history.

Five different IronPigs had multi-hit games: Osmel Aguila (2-4, 2B, RBI, R), Taylor Featherston (2-5, 3 RBI), Andrew Knapp (2-5, R), Cam Perkins (2-4, 2 R) and Jesmuel Valentin (3-4, 2 R).

The Pigs took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third as Valentin led off with a single, advanced to second on a single from Aguila and scored on Featherston’s RBI single.

A three-run fourth opened up a 4-0 lead for the IronPigs as Featherston came through with a two-run single and Aguila plated a run via an RBI double.

In the bottom of the fifth, the IronPigs started the inning with five straight hits as Brock Stassi knocked home a pair with a two-run single and Darnell Sweeney delivered an RBI single of his own.

Rochester starter David Hurlbut (0-2) allowed the seven runs on 12 hits while fanning 4 over 4+ innings.

The IronPigs will open the Governors’ Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night with game one of a best-of-five set against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

In a roster move, Rochester RHP Jose Berrios was recalled by the Minnesota Twins on Monday.
