Rochester and the RailRiders are tied 4-4 as the game will be completed Wednesday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – With dark rain clouds closing in on Frontier Field on Tuesday night around 8 pm, home plate umpire Jansen Visconti decided to start the top of the fourth inning between the Rochester Red Wings and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

The game was tied 4-4, following a ByungHo Park 3-run homer in the bottom of the third for Rochester.

Red Wings pitcher Aaron Slegers took to the mound and on 12 pitches had one out and runners on first and third. After his first pitch to Starlin Castro, on rehab assignment from the New York Yankees, Visconti then called for the tarp to be put on the field as the rain began to come down harder.

A downpour ensued which prevented the job from being done quickly, as the following 4 videos indicate.

Due to the amount of water around third base, the game was suspended at 9:03 pm until 5:05 pm on Wednesday. Had the tarp been put on after the third inning, the game could have resumed after the rain stopped. The game will resume Wednesday and go the full 9 innings.

The regularly scheduled game Wednesday will follow and be a 7-inning contest.

Fans with tickets to Tuesday’s game can exchange them for equal value seats to any of the nine remaining regular season home dates in 2017 OR any 2018 home game in April or May, excluding Opening Day. All ticket exchanges must be made in person at the Frontier Field Ticket Office. For more information regarding the exchange policy, call 423-WING (9464).
