Rochester completes a 7-run comeback for a 10-9 win over the Mets.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings used four home runs to overcome an 8-1 deficit and beat the Syracuse Mets, 10-9, in the series opener Tuesday night at Frontier Field.

Luis Garcia led the way going 4-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers including the go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth. Two batters earlier, Tres Barrera hit a mammoth shot to left that tied the game at 8-8.

After falling behind 8-1 after four innings, Garcia’s first homer of the night cut the lead to 8-3. In the seventh a Donovan Casey three-run blast trimmed the lead to one at 8-7 setting the stage for the Barrera and Garcia bombs in the eighth.

Sterling Sharpe was fantastic for the Wings (10-9) in relief tossing four shutout innings behind Luis Reyes who allowed all eight runs over three-plus innings of work.

Eric Manoah Jr. earned the win tossing a scoreless eighth inning.

Dee Strange-Gordon made his first rehab start with Rochester and went 0-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Game two of the series is set for Wednesday night at 6:05 pm.
