Randy Cesar collects 3 doubles for Rochester in the 13-8 defeat.

ALLENTOWN, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings bid for back-to-back victories for the first time this season was spoiled as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs outslugged Rochester, 13-8, Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park to win the series.

The Wings haven’t won a series in Allentown since September of 2015! Since that last series win in Lehigh Valley, the Red Wings are just 23-45 against their North Division rival – including 2-8 in 2019.

Lehigh Valley blew open a one-run game with a 7-run 7th inning that saw the ‘Pigs send 13 men to the plate against Wings relievers Andrew Vasquez and Austin Adams.

After falling behind early, Luke Raley’s 2-out, bloop double in the fifth inning scored Ronald Torreyes and Lamonte Wade Jr to draw the Wings within a run at 6-5.

Wings starter Chase De Jong was chased from the game after two-plus innings allowing five runs on six hits and three walks.

Jake Reed did all he could to keep the Red Wings in the game striking out 6 in three innings of relief. He entered the game with no outs and the bases loaded in the third inning and struck out 3 straight IronPigs to keep the game within reach for Rochester.

John Andreoli hit a leadoff homer for the Wings – his 2nd homer of the season.

Randy Cesar finished 3-for-4 with 3 doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Andreoli, Wade and Raley also notched multi-hit nights.

The Wings will have Easter Sunday off and will begin a seven-game homestand on Monday against the Scranton/WB RailRiders – the Yankees top affiliate.

WINGS THINGS — Fernando Romero was recalled by Minnesota for their doubleheader in Baltimore on Saturday…Wings slugger Brent Rooker sat out the entire series with a sore hamstring…Wings pitchers walked 8 and struck out 13.
