MOOSIC, PA. — For the eighth time in as many games, the Rochester Red Wings came out on the losing side, falling 10-6 to Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders at PNC field on Wednesday night.

Rochester tallied three home runs on the day from SS Alcides Escobar, DH Joey Meneses, and 1B-LF Jake Noll. Meneses had a notable performance, going three for four at the plate with one RBI and one run scored. Meneses has registered at least one hit in all seven games against Scranton so far this season.

RHP Logan Verrett pitched first, striking out six batters but giving up seven hits and six runs in 5 1/3 innings. LHP Alberto Baldonado came in from the bullpen and gave up an additional three runs before lefty Sam Clay took the mound.

The Wings jumped to an early 1-0 lead on the Escobar homer but quickly gave it up thanks to a four run second inning from the Railriders.

Meneses and Noll hit back-to-back homers in the fourth to make it 5-3 Railriders, and the Wings tied it up in the sixth on a double from Adrian Sanchez, but quickly fell back into a hole. Scranton scored four more in the bottom of the sixth to go up 9-5 before Rochester failed to capitalize with the bases loaded in the eighth.

Rochester is barely holding on to their first place ranking in the IL East, and a win from Buffalo on Wednesday will drop the Wings to No. 2. They haven’t been out of first place since May 7.

The Wings will have a chance to log a much-needed win on Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m. in game three of this series. RHP Cade Cavalli will toe the rubber first.
