INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — The Red Wings dropped their third straight game after falling 5-3 Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis. The loss dropped the Wings’ record to 60-61 on the season.

The Indians took advantage of some sloppy Rochester defense early to jump out in front.

A Wynston Sawyer throwing error led to Indianapolis’ first run in the first inning. An inning later, a Zander Wiel error at first led to two unearned runs when Christian Kelley doubled home a pair with two outs in the inning to make it 3-0.

Trayvon Robinson led off the fourth inning with a solo homer and Cole Tucker singled home a run later in the frame to push the lead to 5-0.

Griffin Jax went four innings in his second Triple-A start allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits. He did not register a walk or strikeout.

Rochester got on the board in the sixth on an RBI groundout from Wilin Rosario.

Wiel made things closer in the ninth with a one-out, two-run homer, but the Wings wouldn’t get closer.

Preston Guilmet and Ryan O’Rourke teamed up to toss four scoreless innings behind Jax to keep the Wings in the game.

Sawyer collected 4 of the 9 Rochester hits.

The Red Wings look to salvage the series finale on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. Charlie Barnes will make the start for Rochester.

*NOTES — The Minnesota Twins have announced the following roster moves: ADD: RHP Cody Stashak was optioned by Minnesota (on Aug. 13); CHANGE: RHP DJ Baxendale was reinstated from the Injured List; and DELETE: RHP Ryan Eades was claimed off waivers by Baltimore.
