SWB tops Buffalo to regain sole possession of 1st in the North Division.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings continue to play successfully play the role of spoiler as the Wings won their 4th straight game with a 5-3 victory over the Syracuse Mets Saturday night at Frontier Field.

The loss knocked the Mets out of a tie for first place in the North Division after the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders downed the Buffalo Bisons, 9-4, in Moosic, PA. Saturday night.

The RailRiders lead the Mets by 1 game with 2 remaining in the regular season. If the teams end up tied for first, there will be a 1-game playoff to determine the North Division representative in the Governor’s Cup playoffs.

The Red Wings never trailed as they scored 1 run in the first and made it a 4-0 advantage with 3 runs in the second.

Tomas Telis paced Rochester with 4 hits as Ramon Flores had 2 RBI. The Wings outhit the Mets, 16-6.

The Wings utilized 4 pitchers with Jake Reed getting the win and Fernando Romero the save.

The series continues Sunday with a 6:05 pm start. Fireworks will follow the game. The regular season concludes with a Monday matinee at 1:05 pm.

Wings announce 2020 schedule

Rochester begins the 140-game season at Frontier Field on Thursday, April 9 vs. Lehigh Valley. The first 7 games of the year will be played at home as the Red Wings play a 4-game set with the IronPigs before welcoming the Syracuse Mets for 3 games beginning Monday, April 13. After an off-day Thursday, the Wings embark on their first road trip with 3 games at Buffalo from April 17-19 and at Lehigh Valley from April 20-22. The longest homestand of the year will be a 10-game set with 3 against Durham, 3 against Louisville, and 4 against Syracuse from Aug. 18-27. Rochester wraps up the campaign with 5 games against Pawtucket and Buffalo from Sept. 3-7.

The Red Wings will be back at home on July 4. The All-Star Break runs from July 13-15.

The home schedule against division opponents features 4 series with Buffalo (April 24-26; May 29-31; Aug. 6; Sept. 5-7), 2 with Lehigh Valley (April 9-12; July 4-6), 4 with Pawtucket (May 26-28; June 29-July 1; Aug. 7-9; Sept. 3-4), 2 with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (May 15-17; June 18-21), and 3 with Syracuse (April 13-15; July 7-9; Aug. 24-27).

Game times will be announced at a later date.

*NOTES — The Minnesota Twins have announced the following roster moves: CHANGE: RHP DJ Baxendale reinstated from the Injured List; and DELETE: RHP Edwar Colina was transferred to Double-A Pensacola…The victory means that Rochester (70-68) will finish at least with a .500 season. The win also gives the Wings a 38-30 record at Frontier Field after they suffered a losing record at home last season.
