Dickerson’s homer leads Norfolk to 8-7 win over Rochester
NORFOLK, VA. — The Rochester Red Wings lost their second consecutive game to the Norfolk Tides, 8-7, on Saturday night.
Chris Dickerson hit a 3-run home run in the sixth inning after the Wings tallied 6 runs in the top of the frame to take a 7-5 lead. It was the game’s final scoring play.
The Tides built a 5-0 advantage after three innings. The Red Wings rallied to take a 7-5 lead in the sixth inning when they scored 6 runs, including a 3-run double by Tommy Field. Leonardo Reginatto also crossed the plate on a double play.
Rochester missed a scoring opportunity in the seventh when Reginatto struck out with the bases loaded to end the frame.
Logan Verrett (1-0) got the win in relief while Kam Mickolio (0-1) took the loss for Rochester.
For the Red Wings, Kennys Vargas homered and singled, scoring a pair of runs while also driving home two.
The series concludes on Sunday with a matinee contest.
