Rochester’s 3-game winning streak is snapped by the Indians.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — The Rochester Red Wings had their 3-game winning streak ended by the Indianapolis Indians, 4-1, on Monday night.
Phil Gosselin scored in the first inning with what proved to be the game-winning marker, on Joey Terdoslavich’s sacrifice fly, after he reached via a RBI single to plate the first run of the game.
The Red Wings answered in the top of the second when ByungHo Park smacked a solo homer to cut the deficit to one.
Rochester brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Indians reliever Dan Runzler got Edgar Corcino to hit into a double play, with runners on first and second, to end the game for his third save of the season.
The Indians tacked on insurance runs in the third and fifth innings.
Nik Turley (4-3) took the loss for the Red Wings after allowing 4 runs on 6 hits over 4.1 innings.
For Rochester, Park also singled twice as the Wings outhit the Indians, 10-7. Matt Hague was the only other Red Wing with more than one hit.
The series resumes Tuesday night in Indy.
*NOTES — In roster moves, RHP Alan Busenitz was recalled by Minnesota, and RHP Nick Tepesch was traded to Toronto for cash considerations.
