Rochester loses 10-1 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Sunday afternoon.
The Rochester Red Wings continue to struggle against Lehigh Valley as the IronPigs won the last two matchups in the 3-game series with a 10-1 victory on Sunday afternoon in Allentown, PA.
With the victory, Lehigh Valley (70-45) extended its International League Wild Card lead to 5.5 games over Rochester (65-51).
The IronPigs scored 2 runs off Red Wings starter Jason Wheeler (9-3) in the second inning, and added 2 more runs on a homer in the fourth.
The hosts tagged reliever Alex Wimmers for 5 runs in the seventh to put the game away.
Rochester’s lone run came in the top of the seventh on a double by Buck Britton and a RBI single from John Ryan Murphy.
The Red Wings are off on Monday and open a 3-game series in Syracuse on Tuesday against the Chiefs. The Wings return to Frontier Field on Friday at 7:05 p.m. versus North Division leader Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
