Rochester falls 6-5 as the RailRiders score twice in the 8th inning to pull out the win.
MOOSIC, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings lost their second consecutive game to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-5, on Wednesday night.
Mason Williams stroked a two-run double in the eighth inning for the game-winning hit. The double by Williams scored Greg Bird and Tyler Austin as the hosts overcame a 5-4 deficit.
Joe Mantiply (3-3) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Michael Tonkin (1-2) took the loss for Rochester. J.R. Graham recorded his first save of the season for SWB.
The Wings took the lead in the third when Zack Granite, J.B. Shuck, and Niko Goodrum each doubled to produce two runs.
The RailRiders answered with 1 run in the home half before Rochester made it 3-1 in the fourth. SWB forged ahead 4-3 with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Red Wings regained the advantage in the seventh when Matt Hague’s plated Engelb Vielma and Granite.
Scranton/WB improved to 6-2 against Rochester this season.
