Rochester erupts for 12 runs in routing the IronPigs, 12-3.

ALLENTOWN, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings earned a split in the 4-game series with a dominating 13-3 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Monday night at Coca-Cola Park.

The Red Wings scored a run in the fourth, but the hosts answered with 3 markers in the home half. Rochester regained control of the game with 5 runs in the fifth as they added runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to punctuate the blowout.

ByungHo Park belted a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to key the rally. He also collected three hits in the game as every Rochester starter had at least one hit in the 14-hit attack.

The home run by Park gave the Red Wings a 6-3 lead. Earlier in the frame, Rochester tied the game on Matt Hague’s sacrifice fly.

Red Wings right-hander Aaron Slegers (8-4) picked up the win after allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Rochester returns to Frontier Field on Tuesday night against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Fireworks will follow the game to celebrate the 4th of July.

*NOTES — INF Leonardo Reginatto, placed on the disabled list with a back muscle strain (retro to July 2)…Rochester has the second-best winning percentage in the league this season when scoring first (.780, 32-9). Lehigh Valley has the best record in the league when plating the first run (.795, 31-8).
