Rochester erupts for 14 hits in the 8-2 victory over the RailRiders.
MOOSIC, PA. — The Rochester Red Wings salvaged the third game of the series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders with an 8-2 victory here on Thursday night.
Zack Granite doubled and singled, driving in a run and also scored one run, and Bengie Gonzalez tripled and singled with an RBI and a run scored to pace Rochester.
With the game tied 1-1, the Red Wings took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. ByungHo Park and Niko Goodrum hit RBI singles en route to the three-run lead.
Rochester right-hander Aaron Slegers (5-4) picked up the win after allowing one run on six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Bryan Mitchell (0-2) took the loss after giving up three runs and five hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Wings reliever Trevor Hildenberger pitched two scoreless innings for his fourth save of the season.
Despite the loss, Scranton/WB is 6-3 against Rochester this season.
The Red Wings continue their road trip with a weekend series in Rhodes Island against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Rochester returns to Frontier Field on Monday night against the Buffalo Bisons.

Red Wings athletic trainer Larry Bennese will serve in that same role for the IL staff during the International League All-Star game. He is in his 29th year as a trainer and his 22nd with the Twins. Bennese has been honored as an Athletic Trainer of the Year seven times, including being tabbed the IL Trainer of the Year in 2014.
