The public meeting on getting rid of Rochester’s red light camera program, delayed by last week’s snowstorm, is this evening. And it appears the vote on Mayor Lovely Warren’s bill to get rid of the cameras won’t be unanimous.
City Council member Matt Haag Tweeted over the weekend that he and Council member Carolee Conklin oppose getting rid of the program. They also wrote a guest editorial for the “Democrat and Chronicle” over the weekend saying they believe it has reduced accidents.
Mayor Warren says a study paid for by the city was ambivalent on the results and she didn’t like that the red light tickets were being generated mainly in the poorest parts of the city.
