The Red Cross says it has less than a three-day supply of most blood types available in the Rochester region, and is issuing an emergency call for blood donors of all types to give now.
The long holiday weekend meant about 450 fewer blood drives than usual last week and about 17,000 fewer blood donations. The Red Cross says it needs donors to fill 8,000 scheduled appointments in the coming two weeks.
