The State of New York says some 300,000 people lost power when near hurricane force winds swept across the state Saturday night. Some 40,000 of those people were in the Rochester area, and some of them will be waiting until 11:30 Monday night for their power to come back on.
Rochester Gas and Electric reports it had about 21,000 outages to be restored on Sunday morning. That was down to about 7,500 by Monday morning, with 11:30 p.m. as the estimated repair time.
Rochester had a 60 mile-per-hour wind gust, and the highest in the region was a 70 mile-per-hour gust in Batavia.
