Once again, Monroe County has set a record it doesn’t want. The Monroe County Department of Public Health reported 625 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the worst yet. There have now been 16,425 cases and 328 deaths in Monroe County.
Governor Cuomo announced in his Wednesday briefing that the first coronavirus vaccine doses could be arriving in New York State by the middle of the month; enough for 170,000 people. Nursing home residents and staff will likely be at the front of the line to receive it.
Meanwhile, 445 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the Rochester area. Some elective procedures are being postponed at the University of Rochester Medical Center hospitals. That’s being decided on a day-to-day basis, and patients should assume their surgery will go on as scheduled unless they hear differently.
