The co-founder of Rochester’s Home Properties has died at the age of 81.

Norman Leenhouts died over the weekend. He founded what was then Home Leasing Corporation in 1967 with his twin brother Nelson. They became a major apartment leasing company in Rochester, and went public in the mid-90s.

He grew up in Wayne County, attended the University of Rochester and had more than 40 years in the residential and commercial real estate business. He’s survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Leenhouts, plus his children, great grandchildren, his brother and sister.
