Rochester media say the City School District has suspended three security officers at the Franklin High School Campus after surveillance video was released showing last week’s shooting incident Thursday morning on the campus.
The video told a different story than the school district and police, who said shots had been fired at a student outside the school. The video showed the gunman attempting to shoot a student at point blank range in a doorway on the Norton Street side of the school while two other students crouched behind him. The gun fired only one shot which somehow missed, then misfired as the gunman kept squeezing the trigger.
The staff members are on leave as the district investigates how the video was leaked to area TV and radio stations. The district says they’re investigating because the students’ faces could be seen, violating the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
