Rochester holds off Kentucky for the Sharks first victory of the season.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Razorsharks have joined the winning party in the NAPB.
After opening the season with six losses, the Razorsharks were able to take advantage of some time off and the rest, and the work in between games showed as Rochester took care of business in a 119-108 win over the visiting Kentucky Thoroughbreds Wednesday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
Leading the way for Rochester (1-6) was Rashard Gill (27 points), Phil Valenti (24 points), the 17-point performances of Matt Hart and Melvin Council while John Ivy chipped in with 13 points.
“We played tonight for the first time this season with a sense of urgency and it showed,” Rochester head coach Chris Iversen said. “We were able to take advantage of a couple things offensively that were working but our defensive energy and effort was the key tonight.”
Kentucky (4-3), which lost its third straight contest, was led by DeAngelo Stewart (23 points), Tyshawn Patterson (22 points), Corey Wilford (13 points) and 10 points each from Darius Leonard, DeMarcus Robinson and Fred Sturdivant.
