ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After a disappointing opener for the RazorSharks in which they fell to the Albany Patroons, 110-92, Coach Chris Iversen will need to make a few adjustments as Rochester is slated to travel east to face their newest Thruway rivals again Saturday.
In the first matchup, former Siena standout and NBA D-League star Edwin Ubiles got the best of the Sharks with a 24-point performance. Also padding the stat sheet was Torren Jones and Lloyd Johnson with 21 and 20 points each.
For the Sharks, former Kentucky Maverick Nick Waddell led the way with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the first double-double of the young season. Last year’s PBL rookie of the year, John Ivy, finished with 15 points as well.
Iversen was ready to admit that the Patroons were the better team the first time out, but he will be sure to bring a well-prepared team to Albany this weekend for a chance to get revenge. The game will take place at 7:05 pm at the Washington Avenue Armory.
The RazorSharks are offering a fan bus for Rochester fans to travel to the game, departing at 2 pm. A $40 ticket includes transportation to and from Albany, game ticket in a special Shark Tank section behind the Rochester bench, and VIP entrance into the Patroon Room. Space is limited, so reserve your tickets today by calling 585-232-9190 or by emailing info@razorsharks.com.
Once the final horn sounds in Albany, the Sharks will have to turn right back around and get ready to take on the Ohio Cardinals at home the following evening. Due to the Buffalo Bills’ 1:05 pm playoff game that day, the RazorSharks game will be pushed from its original start time of 2:05 pm to a more accommodating 5 pm so that Bills and Sharks fans alike may enjoy both games.
This will be the first game of the season for the Cardinals, so the Sharks will hope to get ahead early as their opponents shake off the rust. Tickets for Sunday’s game are on sale now at the Blue Cross Arena box office. As always, kids under 10 are free with an adult. In addition, if the Bills win, RazorSharks general admission tickets will be buy one get one free.
