The Sharks overcame a 21-point deficit for a 6-point win when the teams played earlier in Columbus.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Ohio Bootleggers visit Rochester Saturday for the first time in franchise history at the Blue Cross Arena. This is the Bootleggers first season in the Premier Basketball League and they have not disappointed. The Bootleggers currently sit in third behind the first place Kentucky Mavericks and the second place RazorSharks.

Ohio actually handed Kentucky their first loss in their inaugural game back in January. The Bootleggers currently are coming off a 114-98 road win against the Jamestown Jackals. They will be looking to extend their win streak as they begin a back-to-back series against the Sharks at BCA.

Rochester travelled to Columbus to face the Bootleggers two weeks ago and was able to squeak out a 6-point, come-from-behind win, in their closest game of the season. The Sharks trailed by as much as 21 early in the third, but put together an incredible defensive performance in the fourth quarter, allowing only nine points.

Corey Allmond was the star of that game, scoring 26 points, including 6 three-pointers. Jerice Crouch hit a three late in the fourth, followed by a quick steal and layup to take the RazorSharks’ first lead since the third minute of the game.

Ohio played very well, committing only half the turnovers that Rochester did. They simply did not shoot well enough in the second half, hitting only 26% of their shots compared to Rochester’s 47%. Their leading scorer was forward, Brett McKnight, who dropped 25. Behind him were forward, Bernard Edwards and guard, Shawn Dyer with 19 each.

Saturday’s game will be a special one for one young fan. The RazorSharks will be partnering with the Make-A-Wish foundation to honor 17-year-old Tykem, a young basketball fan from Rochester who suffers from a life-threatening heart disease called cardiomyopathy. He will be presented with a RazorSharks jersey and have a seat on the bench with the team for the duration of the game.

Tipoff for Saturday’s game will be at 7 pm at the BCA. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, or by calling our office at 585-232-9190.
