Rochester pulls out a 115-110 victory for its first win over the Mavericks this season.

OWNESBORO, KY. — The Rochester RazorSharks finally beat the Kentucky Mavericks, 115-110, in the third and final regular season meeting in a game that had huge playoff implications.

Rochester came out of the gates on fire as they jumped out to a 15-0 lead as Melvin Council got off to a quick start with 5 points. The Mavericks battled back and played the rest of the quarter even, but were still down 10 after the first quarter, 25-15.

In the second quarter, the Mavericks showed their mettle and why they are difficult to beat at home. They got to within eight points midway through the period, but after a timeout, the Razorsharks went on a 15-2 run to end the first half, leading 59-36.

The third quarter was more of the same as the Mavericks were only able to get two points closer, 91-70 with 12 minutes left to play. The Mavericks started to make a final run, looking to get back into the game and try to sweep the season series. Anthony Jackson checked back into the game for Kentucky, after hurting his wrist early in the third quarter, and propelled the Mavericks back into the contest by either scoring or assisting on 15 straight points to pull the Mavs within 6 points. However, the Sharks made their free throws down the stretch to secure win.

Corey Allmond was the John Betlem Heating and Cooling Player of the game with 25 points and 5 assists. Jordan Railey recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also led the game with 3 blocks. Council finished with 19 points as Deverell Biggs chipped in 15 points. James Helton led the game with 5 steals.

The loss was the second straight for Kentucky (12-3) and dropped the Mavericks 1.5 games behind Rochestrer (14-2).

Rochester finishes the season on the road with contests against Washington and Jamestown on March 24 and 26.
