Tipoff for the game will be at 7 pm at the Blue Cross Arena.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester RazorSharks are set to take on the Providence Sky Chiefs on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Blue Cross Arena for the first meeting between the two this season. The teams were scheduled to face off last week in Providence, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Last Season, the Sharks (2-0) swept the Sky Chiefs in their four meetings. This will be the first game of the season for a Providence team led by first year guard, Donovan Ford-Hayes and veteran forward, Avery Oliver. Donovan Ford-Hayes is a 6’2 guard out of Becker College and is a member of the school’s 1,000-point club. He also shot over 30% from beyond the three-point arc throughout his college career.

Avery Oliver is the most experienced player on the Sky Chief’s roster. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and has played for several years overseas in Germany, the Ivory Coast, and for the Cape Verde National Team. Oliver was a member of the 2009 and 2013 Cape Verde FIBA Africa Championship teams, and helped them finish 6th in the tournament in 2013.

Rochester’s leading scorer thus far has been rookie, John Ivy with 18.5 points per game. He is coming off a 23-point game with 6 three-pointers and a pair of rebounds.

First year centers Jordan Railey and Dominic Woodson lead the team in rebounds to this point, with 20 each. Woodson is averaging 12 points per game, despite seeing fewer minutes than anyone else on the team.

Through two games, Jerice Crouch and Corey Allmond have been relatively quiet. The reigning MVP, Crouch leads the team in assists, but has not scored as frequently as he has in past seasons. Allmond is third in scoring for Rochester with 14 points per game. Their dip in production can likely be attributed to the fact that there hasn’t been much reason for Coach Iversen to waste his star players with the commanding leads the RazorSharks have owned throughout each of the first two games.

Tickets are on sale now at the box office, or you can call the Sharks office at 585-232-9190 to reserve your seats. Come meet the tallest player in the world “Big Bob” Wegner. Kids’ admission is free with an adult.
