Undefeated Rochester cruises to a 70-point victory to extend its home winning streak to 39 games.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester RazorSharks cruised to an easy Premier Basketball League victory with a 138-68 verdict over the Pennsylvania Dream on Sunday afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena.
The win extended the Sharks undefeated streak at the BCA to 39 games.
The defending PBL champions improved to 4-0 as the season thus far has been a nightmare for the Dream at 0-4.
The game started out pretty close, with a couple early lead changes, and remained that way until there were less than 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Rochester hit a few shots in a row and pulled out to a 10-point lead. Jerice Crouch was the star of the quarter with 5 steals and 4 assists.
The second quarter started fairly tight again, with both teams making some early baskets, but Rochester settled in and took it to Pennsylvania by moving the ball efficiently and creating open shots all over the court. By the end of the half, the Sharks established a 63-34 lead behind Corey Allmond’s 14 points and John Ivy’s dozen.
The second half was all Rochester, as they outscored Pennsylvania 35-13 in the third quarter, and 40-21 in the fourth. Allmond led the way in scoring with 23 points, followed closely by Ivy with 21. Ivy finished 5-for-6 from the field, all three-pointers, and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Crouch had a double-double, with 12 points and 10 assists. He also led the game with 6 steals. Dele Coker had a team leading 8 rebounds as well as 4 steals. Melvin Council had another good game with 15 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Rashard McGill had 18 points in his first start, filling in nicely for the banged up James Helton. Appearing in his first game for the Sharks this year was “Big Bob” Wegner, who pulled down two rebounds in his few minutes of play.
The RazorSharks are off until next Thursday, Jan. 26, when they travel to Chautauqua. They return to the BCA on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 2:05 pm aagainst the Jamestown Jackals.
The game will be dedicated to Orest Hrywnak, who passed away suddenly this past summer. Orest was a huge part of the RazorSharks’ success over the years and this game will be a great way to pay tribute to such an important member of the Sharks family and Rochester community.
Tickets are on sale now at the Blue Cross Arena box office, or by calling the Sharks office at 585-232-9190.
