SUNY Brockport’s John Ivy receives the PBL honor.

CHICAGO, IL. – The Premier Basketball League today announced their first post-season awards with John Ivy being named the 2017 PBL Rookie of the Year. Ivy, a 6-1 guard from Brockport, is the latest Razorshark to be named Rookie of the Year since Todd McCoy was awarded this honor in 2011.

Ivy was third in the PBL in 3 Point Percentage, shooting 47.8% from behind the arc this season, while also being seventh in total 3 pointers made in the PBL with 32. More impressive for the Ivy was his shooting 50.2% from the field in total as a 6-1 rookie. He had a high game of 23 points against Washington on Jan. 8, and averaged 10.9 ppg for Rochester this season.

“John had an outstanding rookie season in the PBL for Rochester this season,” stated PBL Commissioner Dennis Truax. “He came right in and made himself a factor in every contest this season. He was a valuable member of the Razorsharks and was a focal part of the championship run for Rochester.”
