Rochester goes for offense and they select 6 attack players in the college draft.
BOSTON, MA. — After beating the Denver Outlaws on Saturday night, Rochester Rattlers head coach Tim Soudan and staff flew to Boston for the MLL Draft on Sunday morning. The Rattlers added some key players in their quest to win the MLL Championship later this summer.
Due to the Rattlers trade with the Charlotte Hounds for Kevin Drew, the Rattlers were without a first round pick.
The Rattlers looked for an immediate pick up and found a gem in the second round. Rochester selected Ohio State’s Eric Fannell with the 13th pick. Fennell scored two goals and one assist in the NCAA semifinal win over Towson on Saturday. However, the Buckeyes lost to Maryland, 9-6, in the NCAA D1 Championship game on Monday. He led the Buckeyes with 66 points (36 goals and 30 assists).
In the 3rd round, the Rattlers picked attack Zed Williams (Virginia Cavaliers) with the 22nd pick. Williams was second in scoring for Virginia with 27 goals and 25 assists.
The Rattlers didn’t have any selections in the 4th round but had two picks in the 5th round. With the 39th pick, the Rattlers selected Duke Blue Devil attack Jack Bruckner.
The Rattlers also had the next pick and selected Villanova Wildcat midfielder Jack Curran.
Rochester selected Marquette attack Ryan McNamara with the 49th pick.
In the 7th round, the Rattlers then picked up Hobart Statesmen attack Frank Brown with the 58th pick.
A few picks later, Rochester picked up Duke faceoff specialist, Kyle Rowe with the 67th pick.
Nine picks later, the Rattlers selected John Hopkins midfielder Cody Radziewicz with the 76th pick.
