The Rochester goalie handed the Ohio Machine their first loss of the season.

BOSTON, MA. — Rochester Rattlers goalie John Galloway was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3. Galloway and the Rattlers became the first team to beat the Machine this season in a 12-11 overtime win on Saturday.

Galloway, 28, made his season debut for Rochester in Saturday’s win. The veteran goalie made 16 saves total, including four saves in the fourth quarter and two saves in overtime, and stopped 59 percent of all shots from Ohio. The Machine entered the matchup with Rochester 2-0 and scored a season-high 15 goals in their previous contest.

A 2016 MLL All-Star, Galloway went 8-5 last season with a league-best 11.77 goals against average and also led MLL with a .563 save percentage.
