A major European supplier of railroad passenger car interiors is locating its new U.S. manufacturing operations in Rochester.
Governor Cuomo’s office says Austrian-based Seisenbacher Rail Interiors is buying and redeveloping property on Humboldt Street in the city for $1.7 million. They plan to employ about 60 people over the next five years.
Seisenbacher builds the interiors of passenger coaches for a host of global rail car companies. The company already has its first American contract, providing luggage racks and other interior parts for the TEX Rail Project, a high-tech tram system being built for Fort Worth, Texas. The company says that includes lighting and air conditioning systems.
Seisenbacher’s website says it intends to start production in January of 2017.
