Former anchorwoman Rachel Barnhart hasn’t decided yet whether she’s a candidate for mayor of Rochester, but she fired for effect against a couple of possible opponents today.

While guest hosting  on the Bob Lonsberry Show on WHAM 1180, Barnhart said Mayor Lovely Warren’s hasn’t said if she’s running again in 2017…and may be looking for a way out. And Barnhart says a possible candidacy by County Legislator Jim Sheppard is being pushed by Democrats who lost power when Warren won four years ago. Sheppard was former Mayor Tom Richards’ police chief.

Barnhart said she’s not part of either Democratic Party faction. And she says people who don’t want her to run are trying to buy her off with job offers.

Reporters asked Mayor Warren today about her re-election plans….and she said it’s “too early” to talk about that.
