The Buffalo Bills are not in the quarterback market and won’t be when the 2019 NFL Draft rolls around. That’s because the team traded up for Josh Allen at last year’s draft.
But plenty of other teams are and that could mean the roles may reverse for the Bills on April 25.
A recent QB-related report involving prospect Drew Lock connected two teams to the signal caller. NFL Network reported that the Washington Redskins and New York Giants will both have pre-draft visits with him.
The Giants select sixth, while the Redskins hold the No. 15 pick. With Buffalo sitting at ninth, both teams could affect a potential draft day trade involving the Bills moving back to acquire more picks.
On the Redskins’ half of the report, they could be in the market to move up six spots in order to take Lock at No. 9. On the flip side, the Giants could take him before the Bills, causing the Redskins to trade up for another QB prospect, such as Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins or even Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, if either is still on the board.
Not to mention, there are also the Broncos at 10, Bengals at 11 and Dolphins at 14, all teams who’ve had QB-related speculation attached to them during the pre-draft process. All are potential trade partners, as well.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane has a good possibility of receiving some phone calls on Day 1 of the draft, maybe even early and often. What stands to be seen if someone makes him an offer that he can’t refuse.
