Officials at the Ontario County Humane Society says the community has stepped up and donated more than $133,000 to help take care of 85 sick terriers that were confiscated from a home in Naples.

The Humane Society was forced to take in the dogs on August 1st, but the resources needed to suddenly care for so many dogs was spectacular. They put out a call for support and started a fundraiser with a goal of $125,000, based on the estimate of nearly $115,000 to treat and care for the dogs for at least three months.

The Humane Society says they’re blown away by the response to their call. They’re processing the dogs as fast as they can for adoption, which will take several weeks. Adoption will be handled on a lottery system because of the demand to adopt the pups.
