The New York State Public Service Commission has approved a compromise deal that lets Rochester Gas and Electric build a more reliable electric grid…while at the same time preserving a family farm in Chili.
United States Senator Chuck Schumer says this is a win-win for the Krenzer family of Chili and for RG&E. The senator took up the cause of the Krenzer family farm three years ago and pushed to get a new substation moved to where it wouldn’t cut the farm in half.
Instead of taking 11 acres of the Krenzer farm, the compromise runs two power lines across their property. The family says they can live with that.
