“Black Lives Matter” protesters marching through downtown Rochester this evening, blockading traffic outside the Strong Museum at Chestnut St. and Woodbury Blvd. and forcing RTS to close down the Transit Center and move buses to Chestnut Street between Pleasant and Main for boarding.
They started from a rally at the Liberty Pole where they protested the recent shootings of black men by white police officers under questionable circumstances. After marching around downtown, they returned for a final rally at the Liberty Pole.
Police had to close streets as the protesters moved down Main and then Clinton to Woodbury Blvd…then up Chestnut and back to the Liberty Pole.
Bus riders had to try and find their buses on Chestnut Street, not sure which bus was on which side. The Transit Center was closed for more than three hours.
