The group “Save Rochester” marched in a Black Lives Matter protest Sunday afternoon, walking onto I-490 and marching over the Douglass-Anthony Bridge. The group, 70-to-100 strong, caused police to shut down the section of 490 at the Genesee River and divert traffic to surrounding roads. Nobody was hurt, and nobody was arrested as police kept traffic away from the protesters.

As they walked off the expressway near Chestnut Street and Monroe Avenue, leaders of the group vowed to repeat their action Friday afternoon at rush hour.

Save Rochester wants charges to be dropped against 30 or so people who were arrested early Thursday morning for violating Mayor Lovely Warren’s emergency curfew. They want non-violent offenders to be released from the Monroe County Jail and they want the Rochester City Council to draft reparation legislation for Rochester.
