Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart has introduced a Candidate Disclosure Act. Her reaction to the scandal involving Congressman George Santos and his fake resume would require candidates in Monroe County to send a notarized form to the County Board of Ethics, detailing their resume. It would also cover their work history, any military service and any titles earned.
Barnhart says voters need to know if a candidate is telling the truth before election day, not after. The proposal will go to committee meetings in May, and if approved will go the full legislature for a final vote in June.
