President Joe Biden says the $100 billion Micron Semiconductor complex now being developed outside of Syracuse is one of the most significant investments made in American history.

At Onondaga Community College on Thursday afternoon, the President said the development building up over the next decade will ensure a future where most of the things we buy are made in America. Biden says the “internet of things” means we increasingly rely on computer chips for everything from TV sets to washing machines. He says the Micron “Mega Fab Complex” will employ some 9,000 people in a facility that masses more than seven million square feet. That one facility will boost American chip manufacturing by 500 percent.

Biden said “Where is it written the U.S. can’t be the manufacturing capital of the world?”
