A US Postal Service employee is facing charges for allegedly stealing mail.
Federal prosecutors say James Ludwig, who worked at the Victor Post Office, was caught stealing mail that contained either cash or gift cards while working as a mail carrier.
One victim kept the gift card identification number and determined that the stolen gift card was redeemed at a local store in the Rochester area. The retailer was able to identify the person who redeemed the stolen gift card and that led postal inspectors to Ludwig.
He is facing a maximum of 5 years in prison and a 250 thousand dollars fine when he is sentenced.
