A new Quinnipiac poll finds a substantial majority of New York voters agree with Governor Cuomo’s push to treat 16-and-17-year-olds accused of a crime as juveniles, not adults.
By 59-to-29 percent the say teenage criminals should not be charged as adults. Republicans disagree, with 49-to-40 percent saying these teens should be handled as adult criminals. But every other political, gender, age and racial group says they should be handled in family court.
Quinnipiac also finds an overwhelming 70-26 percent of New York voters supporting free tuition for in-state students attending SUNY schools, providing their families earn below $125,000 a year.
