Rochester police are trying to sort out what happened Sunday afternoon when a group of people started fighting with knives at Pierpont and Mason Streets on the West Side.
Police say this happened about 3:00 p.m. They arrived to find a car crashed into the front steps of a house on Pierpont Street, and people saying the car had struck several people who were involved in the fight.
A 16-year-old girl told police she had been struck by the car. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be checked out and is recovering. A 15-year-old girl also complained of pain, but could not confirm she was struck by the car. She was also taken to the hospital and is recovering.
The driver of the car had fled by the time police got there. They have not determined if striking the people was an intentional act. The investigation is continuing.
