A Greece man was charged after a police investigation that centered around a house at 1093 Dewey Avenue.

Police closed off Dewey between Flower City Park and Driving Park Avenue about 5:00 this morning as they investigated a report of a gunman barricaded inside a house. People were alerted by Reverse 911 and smartphone alerts to stay inside.

Police say it was a domestic situation involving a man who called an ex-girlfriend and made threats. Police who went to talk with him found him inside his residence. He made threats involving a gun and refused to come out.

Police called in the SWAT team. When he saw them arrive, the suspect came to a window, told officers he was not armed and came out of the house. He taken into custody. Nobody was hurt.

Police charged 29-year-old Edwin Perez of Greece with Criminal Contempt and Aggravated Harassment.

Emergency cell phone alerts intended for people in northwest Rochester also went to people in Irondequoit and the east side of the city, plus Greece, Spencerport and Ogden.
